Theatre on the Bay is situated in Camps Bay, a beautiful beach suburb of Cape Town. Originally the Alvin Cinema, Pieter Toerien purchased the then derelict building in 1988 and rebuilt it as Theatre on the Bay.

Since then, its stage has seen many South African theatre legends tread the boards or create productions and provided a stepping stone for aspirant professionals who have since become household names.
