KickstArt Theatre was formed in 2000 by Greg King as a project-based company for talented Durban actors. King was joined by Steven Stead in 2003 and together they ran the intimate Kwasuka Theatre for three years, before moving on to collaborate with larger theatres like the Playhouse and the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre. KickstArt has also collaborated with theatres more widely in South Africa, with projects playing venues like the Baxter Theatre and Theatre on the Bay in Cape Town and Theatre on the Square, the Lyric Theatre and Pieter Toerien’s Montecasino Theatre in Johannesburg.
